Heroes Network Sparks Veteran–Hollywood Collaboration

A U.S. Army Special Forces veteran met a Hollywood actor through our Heroes Network program and the result was a groundbreaking new video game “With Them: Frontlines” where players experience combat ops in the places where U.S. forces actually fought.

Shawn Piatz served 28 years in the Army, 23 of those as a Green Beret before his 2017 retirement. Through Heroes Network, he connected with Hollywood Actor/Producer Devin Reeve.

Reeve is a Hollywood-based award-winning creative with 20 years of experience as an actor, director, producer, and writer.

After connecting on Heroes Network, Reeve provided creative support to Piatz and his colleagues at ORE System in developing a video game aimed at delivering immersive combat experiences with a component of mental-health support.

Piatz and Reeve spoke of their experience and more on CBS’ Eye on Veterans hosted by U.S. Navy veteran Phil Briggs. You can listen to the episode here.

At last year's Heroes Linked Gala, Reeve spoke to the audience about the power of volunteerism to assist America's veterans and their families and his experiences assisting Piatz.

With Them: Frontlines is produced by Austin, Texas-based ORE Sys, LLC where Piatz is Chief Operating Officer. Many of the ORE Sys senior management personnel are also Veterans.

Devin Reeve addresses the 2024 Heroes Linked Gala audience in Los Angeles. At left, is Heroes Linked Board Chair Bob Jerome.
