MEDAL OF HONOR PROGRAM
Honoring those who served: Daniel Munoz, a service-disabled U.S. Air Force veteran and Heroes Linked program assistance recipient, and his niece, Elena, meet Medal of Honor recipients at a Heroes Linked community event.
About the Program
Heroes Linkedβs Medal of Honor Program connects recipients of our nationβs highest award for valor in combat against an enemy force with civilian and military veteran audiences.
Program audiences learn the history of the Medal of Honor, the criteria for a soldierβs nomination, and the process leading to the confirmation and presentation of the medal. In these presentations, audiences hear firsthand from recipients about the actions that led to their nomination for the Medal of Honor. They will also hear recipientsβ reflections on what it means to be a recipient and the message they want to pass on to present and future generations.
The Medal of Honor Program promotes the enduring values embodied in the six βPillarsβ that support the Medal of Honor: Courage, Citizenship, Commitment, Integrity, Patriotism, and Selfless Service and Sacrifice.
Heroes Linked is proud to do its part to preserve and ensure the legacy of the Medal of Honor and its recipients by keeping their stories alive to educate, inspire, and shape present and future leaders across America.
The Values Behind the Medal of Honor
Every Medal of Honor recipient lives by these six values. They are at the center of every story our program shares.
Doing the right thing even when you are afraid. Acting when it would be easier to look away.
Showing up for your community and your country. Being part of something bigger than yourself.
Sticking with what matters when it gets hard. Following through after others have stepped away.
Doing the right thing when no one is watching. Holding to your values when the pressure is on.
A deep love for your country and what it stands for. Lived out through service and sacrifice.
Putting other people and the mission before yourself. Even when it costs you everything.
