Where Healing Meets Creative Expression
Gold Star Rising is a Heroes Linked program designed specifically for Gold Star teens — the children and siblings of fallen U.S. military service members, ages 13 to 18. Rooted in the belief that artistic expression is a powerful path to healing, the program creates a supportive environment where young people can process their shared experiences while discovering their creative potential.
Through filmmaking, theatre, and creative writing, participants build the communication, leadership, and resilience skills they'll carry forward — alongside meaningful connections with peers who truly understand.
Currently in pilot phase. Gold Star Rising is expected to hold its first program iteration in summer 2026. Heroes Linked is actively building the partnerships and infrastructure to bring this program to Gold Star families nationwide.

Gold Star College Care
As Heroes Linked deepens its commitment to Gold Star families, the Gold Star College Care initiative is being integrated into Gold Star Rising — creating a more comprehensive program that supports both personal development and educational success.
Previously operated in partnership with another veteran-serving organization, Gold Star College Care helped cover educational expenses beyond tuition and housing assistance. The initiative addresses the real, practical costs that fall through the gaps of existing support:
- Laptops and technology
- Course materials and textbooks
- Transportation costs
- Other academic necessities

By folding Gold Star College Care into Gold Star Rising, Heroes Linked creates a single, unified program that walks alongside Gold Star young people through both their creative journey and their academic one — removing financial barriers at every step.
